Asian Heritage Under the Stars at Moonlight Market

Arts & Humanities Bainbridge (AHB) and the Bainbridge Creative District (BCD) will be kicking off the Bainbridge Island Asian Arts & Heritage Festival Friday, May 3, at the Moonlight Market. Stop by the AHB booth to see local AANHPI art, participate in free creative activities, get fun BCD merchandise, and learn more about upcoming Bainbridge Island Asian Arts & Heritage Festival events.

 

Featured Artist: Francis Alao

"Francis Alao is a Filipino self taught artist who discovered his passion for art at a very young age. He picked up his first pencil at the age of 4 and drew a portrait of his dad sleeping. He got into drawing excessively when he got into anime(Japanese animation). He would draw these anime characters into a cardboard and cut them out and turn them into toys. At 14 he moved to Washington State and graduated in Bainbridge High School. Due to art school being expensive. He taught himself how to paint. He studied the greats like Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and many more artist. He showed his first art exhibit at Paper N Leaf cannabis store in Bainbridge Island. He joined an art battle recently in Seattle and made it to the finals for the Northwest regional championship. He’s a tattoo artist at Golden Rule tattoo located in Silverdale, WA. Now he’s slowly building his own style and signature in spontaneous realism. It’s a form of abstract portraits with exploding of vibrant colors."
