Bringing a car to Bainbridge Island, either on the ferry from Seattle or by driving from the Kitsap Peninsula, will give you the most flexibility and freedom to explore the island and the surrounding area. There are a variety of reputable and highly regarded boat rental locations. As you plan, please take note of the boat rental location. This can be extremely important when renting a boat on Lake Union and whether your boat will be permitted to leave through the Ballard Locks to the open waters of Puget Sound.
Kitsap Transit operates a substantial network of public-use Bainbridge Island buses that are perfectly coordinated with ferry travel times.

Suquamish Clearwater Resort Courtesy Shuttle: Provides service from the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal at Winslow to the Resort and back. Departures are timed to ferry schedules.
Located just outside the terminal at the bus loop, this kiosk is lightly staffed but always has great materials for you to grab prior to setting off on your island adventure.
