Upper Left & Spawn of the Machine in Concert

Upper Left & Spawn of the Machine in Concert

Presented by Bainbridge Island Museum of Art at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art

It’s Snowglobe party night, a celebration of local hip-hop and experimental art-rock talent as Upper Left and Spawn of the Machines bring it to BIMA’s Frank Buxton Auditorium. Come out, get down, and support these up-and-coming artists!

Upper Left lights up BIMA with an evening of hip hop, r&b, and good grooves. The dynamic ensemble features a range of talent from the West Sound including MackrayzOne DotPnw Nils, and Denzel2AM. Their influences range from J. Cole, N.W.A., Mac Ayres, and 50 Cent, to the sounds of 98.9 KWJZ Smooth Jazz, various soul, and Motown artists, and gospel that they grew up listening to—with some Kung Fu and Manga (Japanese comic books) thrown in.

Opening for Upper Left is the noise and performance art trio, Spawn of the Machines, a newly founded group from Seattle. They’re fascinated by exploring the connection between music and the fine arts and invite everyone to explore with them. Calder Bischoff is a producer, composer, and musician living in Seattle, Washington, originally from right here on Bainbridge Island. Bischoff has a long history with music, being surrounded by experimental sounds throughout his entire life and making his stage debut at the age of six. Bischoff’s love for texture, soundscapes, and drones is the signature of his sound. Drummer. Hear him Saturday mornings on KEXP 90.3FM as DJ Calder Bischoff, one of the station’s 90.Teen hosts. Sam Sabol has always been passionate about music ever since he was a kid. The multi-instrumentalist has a wide-ranging list of influences—from Herbie Hancock to Black MIDI and everything in between.
