Bainbridge Island Summer Studio Tour

Bainbridge Island Summer Studio Tour

Presented by Bainbridge Island Studio Tour at Unknown

The 22nd annual Summer Studio Tour on Bainbridge Island takes place August 12 through 14, and thirty-eight artists will be on hand showcasing their work in four local artists’ studios. Everyone is so happy to be back in person, like last year, which was an over-the-top success!

The Tour offers original, hand-crafted art. Each artist had to be juried, so the artwork is high quality and original, reflecting the “hand and spirit of the artist.” And each artist is present, so visitors can really get to know the artists and hear about their techniques, style, and inspiration. Plus, many artists offer custom work, sizes, and themes.

Look for a wide variety of work on display, including garden art, watercolors, jewelry, pottery, fused glass, wearables, metal sculpture, India ink, mixed media, photography and more. Tour Manager Dinah Satterwhite says: “I’m so excited for this year’s Summer Studio Tour! We have such resilient artists in Washington, dealing with two tough years. And what talent! I’m always inspired when I see the new artists’ work and see our past artists with new pieces. We jury each artist carefully and hear so many compliments from customers who appreciate fine quality hand-made art, at show prices. Functional, or decorative, we have a great variety. And meeting the artists in person is the icing on the cake, for sure.”

One of the new artists to the Tour is Corissa Lynn Helm, with very whimsical pottery. Her hand-sculpted work includes functional mugs, planters, bowls and yarn bowls with facial a twist. She says “I create functional pottery with facial expressions because I love creating artwork that makes people happy and starts conversations.” And lifting the mug to your mouth with that cute little face and tiny tongue sticking out, is awfully cute, too!

“Two Birds in a Pod” is a fun husband-wife duo. Doug West makes birdhouses using reclaimed wood, driftwood, tree branches, twigs, rocks, natural moss, fungi, and lichen that are responsibly harvested and naturally preserved. Bianca West upcycles used burlap coffee sacks into beautiful market totes, pillows, and art. Don’t miss these two birds in a pod!

Other new artists include Dominica Lord-Wood, with beautiful hand-woven baskets; Cody Manual, with metal art; Kathy Barrett with blown and fused glass; and many more.

The four studios on the Tour start with: #1, Theresa Killgore’s “Peaceful Spring Designs Studio” next to Lynwood Center; #2, Elemental Furnishings on Vincent Road by the recycle center, owned by Kathy Lafond and George Brooks; #3, Danna Watson’s “Dancing Spirit Studio” on Fletcher Bay Road; and #4, Barbara Weissman’s studio close to Rolling Bay just off of Valley Road.

The Studio Tour is a free self-guided tour, where patrons can get original hand-crafted art directly from the artist. The studios are open 10am to 6pm on Friday and Saturday, and 10am to 5pm on Sunday.
