Professional Traveler, and PNW Resident, Cameron Hewitt Shares his memoir "The Temporary European"

Presented by Eagle Harbor Book Company at Eagle Harbor Book Company

Professional Traveler, and Seattle resident, Cameron Hewitt comes to Eagle Harbor Book Company on July 21, 2022 to share his new travel memoir, The Temporary European: Lessons and Confessions of a Professional Traveler.  Cameron has worked with famed traveler Rick Steves over the past two decades, researching and writing guidebooks, leading guided tours and producing television programs for the Rick Steves brand.  Not surprisingly, he has amassed a wealth of knowledge on European travel, and he shares it all with The Temporary European.  He’s learned over the years that the most vivid memories of Europe occur when you shed your domestic attitudes and habits, veer off the well-worn tourist path, and become a “Temporary European.”  His book collects his favorite travel adventures over the past 25 years, from his semester abroad in Salamanca, Spain, right up to the present day, and offers a behind-the-scenes look into the work of a professional traveler: writing guidebooks, leading tours, producing TV shows, and working with a living legend and his merry band of travelers.  Not to be missed are his secrets for traveling in the age of COVID-19.

Famed Traveler, Rick Steves, provides the forward to Cameron’s book and says “To me, Cameron’s thoughtful approach perfectly embodies what I hope will be a new ethos of mindful travel as the world opens up again. What better time to simply read, and dream, as a great traveler leads you through the joys of Europe?”—Rick Steves, from the foreword of The Temporary European.

Those wanting the inside scoop on maximizing your European vacation should not miss this event.

Cameron Hewitt was born in Denver, grew up in Central Ohio, and moved to Seattle in 2000 to help Rick Steves research and write America's bestselling guidebooks. Since then, Cameron has spent 100 days in Europe each year. He has traveled to and written about more than 35 European countries and has co-authored guidebooks on Croatia, Budapest, Iceland, Scotland, Greece, Berlin, and many more. Cameron also guides Rick Steves tours in Europe; contributes to Rick's television series and radio program; presents travel talks; and blogs about his travels at www.cameronhewitt.com.
