Concert: Hot Club Swing

Concert: Hot Club Swing

Presented by Ranger and the "Re-Arrangers" at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art

Ranger's band plays traditional Roma melodies, the music of Django Reinhardt, and originals in the Hot Club Style, which was pioneered by Django and Stephane Grappelli in France in the 1930's, 40's and 50's.

Jackie and Tovi arrived in 2015 from Alaska, where they led the group Swing 49. Somewhere between Ella Fitzgerald, Edith Piaf, and Aretha Franklin, Jackie’s soulful and improvisational singing charmed even the most gruff Alaskan fishermen--and the judges at the 2017 Seattle Jazz Vocalist Competition, where she was a finalist! Tovi studied classical and jazz guitar at the University of Alaska--his playful solos and powerful rhythm make the “Re-Arrangers” swing their hardest!
